As the English proverb states ‘A healthy mind resides in a healthy body’ and at the British School of Beijing, Sanlitun we place great importance on ensuring all our students enjoy their school life within the learning environment and are cared for, healthy and happy. We do this in a number of ways.
We have a full time nurse based at each of our campuses who is trained to attend to day to day bumps and bruises, as well as more serious ailments should they occur. We ask that parents inform us of any allergies or medical issues their child might have so we can be fully prepared for any medical situations that may arise at school.
We have an excellent relationship with our local expatriate hospital, International SOS, who help to provide health checks for families during the school year. These include eye tests, hearing tests as well as flu vaccinations.
There are specialist support services that we can put our families into contact with should they require it. These include counsellors, family therapists, child and educational psychologists as well as therapists for pupils with learning support needs.
There are times during the year when the air quality in Beijing is poor and this is a concern for our parents, particularly with younger children. Whilst we cannot change the air outside, we do try our best to limit our students’ exposure to poor air quality and ensure that the air inside the school buildings is safe and healthy. To this end we have a detailed ‘Pollution Policy’ which is upheld by all members of the school community, which is reviewed on a regular basis. You will find the link to this below.
