‘A reader lives a thousand years before he dies…’ writes acclaimed fantasy author George R.R. Martin and in Year 6, it feels like we’ve crammed a year’s worth of literary experiences into one four-day week.
We’ve loved our class book Coraline and have used it to explore the medium of graphic novels. We have also used it to enhance our knowledge of biographies and instructional texts.
On Tuesday, we took part in a readathon that tested our reading stamina and netted an ample amount of cash for the school charity campaign - thank you to all parents who were able to contribute.
On Wednesday, we ‘checked out’ the mystery book activity in the library and all week, we have been sleuths looking for clues as to what the KS2 mystery books are. To round it all off, we took part in a dress up day with each of us dressing up as a favourite character from a book.
