The past few weeks have been very exciting for Year 1!
We began our ‘Toys’ topic by reading a story called ‘The Naughty Bus’ in our English lessons. We discussed all the naughty things the bus had done in the story.
The following week, BSB had a visitor. It was the Naughty Bus! It destroyed some of Year 1’s classrooms, ate the Year 1’s snacks and hid some of the teachers’ belongings. Some of the children were very fed up of the Naughty Bus’ mischief so they became detectives and police officers to try and find the Naughty Bus’ hiding place.
Once we found the Naughty Bus, we decided to create our own story. It was similar to the ‘The Naughty Bus’ story, but we changed the character to a car. We took pictures of some naughty things our cars had done and then wrote stories using the pictures as prompts.
It is great to see how much Year 1 have improved their writing skills as they used adjectives in their writing and are beginning to extend their sentences using ‘and’ and ‘because’ to make their writing more exciting.
