The Reception children are Mad about Minibeasts!
For the last two weeks the children have all been transformed into entomologists as we have burrowed into our new topic of Minibeasts. They have all been Very Busy Spiders and have gone Mad about Minibeasts.
The children loved The Very Busy Spider by Eric Carle and wanted to further their knowledge at playtime and at home by going on Spider hunts! They got their magnifying glasses and set out to look for spiders in all the usual and unusual places.
An absolute favourite activity was looking at different minibeasts through magnifying glasses and drawing their representations on paper. Our Reception children are entomologists and artists!
The children created fantastic sentences about some of their favourte minibeasts and enjoyed labelling a picture of a lady bird.
They used their fine motor skills to create spider’s webs using straws and playdough and asked some inquisitive questions about Minibeasts and their habitats.
They children enjoyed sharing their favourite Minibeasts with their friends and telling each other why this was their favourite.
