This week in Reception, the Turtles class were practising different body balances. They use different points of their body to hold the balance and they even got to collaborate with their partner to create new balances.
Balance is essential for all physical development and is a prerequisite for almost every movement skill. It is sub divided into two categories, Static Balance and Dynamic balance. This week in reception we focused on static balances and the ability to maintain a static position.
The Turtles were super at holding the position and trying new balances using different points of their body. All the balances required the children to use effective posture, with muscular contraction and relaxation. The Turtles loved showing each other the different balances they could hold!
