Little composers in Year 4

Little composers in Year 4 - little-composers-in-year-4
Little composers in Year 4 Creating, improvising and interpreting are the key points of our Performing Arts programme at BSB Sanlitun.

Creating, improvising and interpreting are the key points of our Performing Arts programme at BSB Sanlitun and therefore we have already started to compose and share our best ideas in Y4 music lessons. We have been working hard with a partner to come up with the best ‘jingle’ for our school bell, using a variety of tuned percussion instruments that resonate and have a natural decay.

I have been impressed with the level of self-confidence and imagination the pupils are using to best express their ideas and I can’t wait to hear them all perform to the class in a few weeks, explaining their reasons for chosen sounds and methods they used in creating them.

Our next step would be to deeply analyze and discuss how does Sean Shepperd create “ringing effects” in several of his pieces that we will have a chance to listen and actively engage with on Juilliard Creative Classroom.
