Join Our Open Morning
Students have now finished over a month of school and progress is sprouting. All students are becoming more familiar with our routines in EAL classes, and each student is contributing to our unique classroom cultures. Take a look at our display board, and you will be able to see all of our different students and the uniqueness that each one offers.
In EAL class, each student matters. Each student matters because their individual funds of knowledge are contributing to the richness of the whole. For example, this month Chinese Moon Festival was celebrated. Students participated in learning activities that celebrated their culture and our surrounding culture. In addition, our EAL curriculum also adjusts to reflect student’s familial and culture backgrounds. Teacher and students do this by personalizing tasks and giving choices. Evidence of this is shown by students writing about their friends, creating stories about cities they have traveled to, or by them discussing foods they personally like to eat. This is making everyone’s learning more meaningful.
Going forward, our goal is to continue to help develop students as effective writers. No matter where the student’s writing ability is at now, steps to promote everyone to the next level will be implemented. Our Be Ambitious skills including resilience, bravery, and self-regulation will be in full force as we look to celebrate the writing accomplishments of our students by displaying their work on our school walls.
We look forward to the progress our students will be making as the year continues to gain momentum.
