Students from Year 3 to Year 6 took part in the JISAC swim meet at the Canadian school last Saturday.
This was our first time entering this event. It was an early start for the boys and girls, as the first pool warmup was at 8:30am. After this warmup, every child took part in at least two events that they had selected themselves. All the events were at least 50metres and the standard from the BSB team and other schools was high. All our swimmers performed well, with some even securing first place in their heats across a variety of strokes and thus earning a ribbon for their performance.
Swim meets like this are a great way for the children to practice the skills they learn in swimming lessons. The competitive nature of these events pushes children to perform to the best of their abilities. It was great to see the team spirit of the BSB Sanlitun group. Each swimmer was cheered on by the other children who were standing at the end of the pool, as well as by a vocal group of parents from BSB Sanlitun who were seated in the bleachers.
