In English they have written shape poems. The children used figurative language to describe an erupting volcano and then used their poetry lines to create a volcanic shape. There were some extremely imaginative phrases including ‘The volcano let out a magnificent belch of fire’ and ‘The throat of the volcano coughed out hot, boiling, surging magma’.
The volcanic theme continued as the children used both intaglio printing and relief printing techniques in their artwork to represent an erupting volcano. A very messy activity but the lava effects were fantastic. Their finished collages were full of hot colours and show cased their printing skills. Look out for some of the children’s work on display along the Year 3 corridor!
