This week in Early Years we have been so busy continuing with our Curious Cities topic as well as celebrating Chinese New Year.
This week in Early Years we have been so busy continuing with our Curious Cities topic as well as celebrating Chinese New Year.
Firstly, all the Early Years classes have collated their work for our Curious Cities topic, each class taking one page to make a book on the iPad App Book Creator. Some chose to focus on the air pollution, others on recycling bins and Rainbow Fish class, focused on water pollution. Our children have shown concern about oil and rubbish polluting rivers, and particularly, hurting the fish. We made a page with a photograph of a water dump with oil and rubbish been thrown in and created a sound with the children shouting, look after our water!
As if this was not enough, we have also been celebrating Chinese New Year: Pre-Nursery have been making dumplings (jiaozi). In Nursery, we have been watching the story of Chinese New Year and making rooster crafts, this year for Year of the Rooster.
There has been some wonderful fan and dragon dances, as well as, a traditional a Chinese dress up day! Amongst all the fun of fan dancing, telling stories, making dumplings and so much more, this morning our youngest children also took part in a Lunar New Year parade. Wearing our beautiful traditional Chinese clothing, the children in Tadpoles, Pre-Nursery and Nursery gave a wave to their friends whilst parading the big circle. To finish, we all sang together, gong xi gong xi, Happy Chinese New Year!
