In Pre-Nursery this week, we have been thinking about how we can recycle and reuse ‘rubbish’ to create something new as part of the whole school Curious Cities project.
Although the concept of recycling is quite tricky at such a young age, we worked together to think about the sort of things we usually throw away such as cardboard, paper and bottles and the children helped to come up with ideas as to how we could reuse them.
Pre-Nursery created fantastic maracas out of old bottles and scraps of paper, all the children were so proud of the finished project and enjoyed shaking them along to music! We also used cardboard tubes and old tights stuffed with beans to paint with, producing amazing firework pictures.
Later in the week, we had out all sorts of recycled materials along with glue and tape and encouraged the children to create their own junk model. It was wonderful to see the children working together and using their imagination as they made junk houses, dinosaurs and rockets.
