Well done to all our boys and girls for playing some superb handball!
Girls's Team
On Tuesday of last week we took 4 teams of BSB Sanlitun girls to BSB Shunyi, where we took part in the annual JISAC Handball Exchange Competition, against other teams from WAB, Harrow, BIBA, BCIS and BSB Shunyi. It was a great day out and all the teams performed really well.
The Under 11 girls team, which I played in, came home with a 3rd place overall finish with a record of 2 wins and 2 losses, our outstanding players being Ella, Claudia and June. Our Under 10 team had a great time, with Lizzie Sutton being their most valued player. The Under 9 team worked hard and fought from deep within to walk away with their heads held high after a tough day of competition, with new team member Elsa Jarvis and old face Dain Lee being their star players. Our strongest performance came from the Under 8 team, scoring a total of 37 goals, winning 6 matches and losing none! They walked away from Shunyi with the trophy for 1st place! They were brilliant, every one of the girls was a star, each one scoring but led overall in attack by Jenny Xu and Kaila Yilmaz who scored about 30 of the goals between them!
Overall it was a really good day, and everyone had a lot of fun!

Boy's Team
The day after the girls went to Shunyi it was the turn of the boys.
We took 2 under 8 teams, the A Team winning 1st place in their age group with 4 wins and 0 losses, the whole team being outstanding. The B team also played exceptionally well, with a record of 3 wins and 1 loss, their outstanding player being Ryan Looi.
We also took 2 teams in the Under 9 age group, and again got a double podium finish – the A team coming second and the B team coming third, the outstanding players in the age group being Oliver Kerry, Josh Masuka, Marco Marescialli, Jett Pederson, and Sankara Bloemen Gwisai. In the Under 10 category the boys battled really hard against teams from WAB, BCIS, Shunyi and Harrow. Their outstanding player was Gaspar Cortes.
Finally, our Under 11 boys team walked away with a well-deserved 3rd place position, captained by me! Our outstanding player was Sora Suzuki, who displayed great strength through the whole tournament and became the boss of the court, allowing Jason Lau and Ben Aurel the opportunity to score most of our goals. Overall, it was a great Team Sanlitun effort!
