What started as a simple curiosity in skating for Year 5 Onur L, has evolved into a dedicated ice hockey practice for over three years. His team practices are two times a week and entail drills, activation games, shooting at the goalie. In additiona to the weekly team practices, Onur wakes early on Sundays to do 6am stick and puck with his dad!
This month, Onur celebrated a BIG win when he and his Hockey Team, River Dogs 2 ended the Northwest Hockey League Spring Playoff as the champions! During the playoff, Onur scored 12 goals and did 2 assists. This was a proud moment for his parents.
When asked about his favorite aspect of hockey, Onur said, "I like playing in games and scoring goals. I also pass a lot to support my team mates. It is really fun to do slapshots, which are strong shots". He also added that the PE lessons and games at BISC-LP have helped to improve his strength, and make him a better player all around.
With his determination and positive attitude, we know Onur will continue to have success on and off the ice!
The Performing Arts Team shares more about the BISC-LP collaboration with Juilliard and how the Juilliard Creative Classroom benefits our students.
