Amazing opportunities beyond traditional academics

BUILDING CONFIDENT, CREATIVE LEADERS

Our dynamic curriculum makes learning fun, inside and outside the classroom. We help students build skills and explore new interests, while promoting self-motivation and problem-solving. Academics are treated with as much importance as a healthy mindset and lifestyle, supporting the holistic development of our students. 99% of our parents believe their child is receiving a high-quality education.

BROADENING YOUR CHILD’S HORIZONS

The most important thing to helping children find their strengths and passions is a broad, interesting curriculum, starting at a young age. We begin by guiding our youngest students with specialist lessons in our 15-month-old classrooms, exposing them to a diverse curriculum.

The Juilliard School
Our collaboration with the world’s most renowned arts institution enriches our students’ love of dance, drama and music.
MIT
The MIT-Nord Anglia STEAM programme helps our students to develop their creativity and problem-solving skills by tackling interdisciplinary challenges facing the world today.
UNICEF
Students are challenged to make a difference locally and globally by tackling the Sustainable Development Goals.

Our studio arts also offer a range of opportunities to develop their creativity through options like Comic Book Club, which has them writing and illustrating graphic novels, or Project Runway Club, focused on textiles and fashion design.

Local Trips
We’re proud of our Chicago heritage, so some of the best trips we take our students on are right here in the Windy City (or slightly further afield).

Local Trips
We take advantage of our urban setting and take our students on many safe, informative local trips to cultural and historical destinations. We visit museums, performances, and places of business/industry linked to the curriculum, and historical or architectural points of interest.

Inter-state trips and Sleep Away Camps
When we head out of Illinois, we open our students' minds to safe, challenging, rewarding experiences they might not get at home.

Inter-state trips and Sleep Away Camps
Sleep-away camps in Michigan and Wisconsin are great ways for our students to start to hone their wilderness skills with activities like canoeing, making smores, archery and more. These activities get them out of the city and into the woods to explore, team build and gain experiences in new environment away from home -- building resilience, independence and an appreciation for nature.

Ski trips
Students travel to Wisconsin to hit the slopes. In between ski runs, the students snow tube, sip hot chocolate and take in a change of scenery up north. Evenings are full of fun with friends, letting students create new experiences and develop independence away from home.

Students can take part in amazing activities like ice sculpting in the winter break or visiting local parks in the summer. Trips to the Shedd Aquarium, Museum of Science and Industry and Lincoln Park Zoo are all part of the Young Explorers and Pioneers’ experience. These immersive activities are light and accessible, allowing campers to enjoy their vacation in a fun, inclusive environment—while still contributing to their education.

SKILLS FOR LIFE

WELL-BEING AND RESILIENCE

Our nine school values are embodied by our Goal Squad characters and are used to embed character development and social emotional learning into school life. We celebrate when these values are demonstrated in the learning and personal choices our students make, as they find the best ways to look after their own well-being, while developing mental resilience.

Students are also supported by our school counsellor, alongside other specialists, who can help BISC-LP students to develop resilience, find the right path for the future and deal with any ongoing issues.

While mindfulness is embedded right across our curriculum, your child can also access a wealth of resources on well-being through our exclusive online platform, Global Campus.

OUR SOCIAL PURPOSE

We’re proud of our Chicago heritage at BISC-LP and we support students in positive local efforts throughout their time with us.

Students partner with over 20 local organizations on service projects. These activities empower them to consciously make a positive change in the place they call home.

Your child will use some of the skills picked up in our adaptable curriculum to enhance charity efforts too. Our annual Maker Faire is an example of this as it gives every student the opportunity to develop their design and innovation skills by creating a new product that solves a real-world problem, bringing into practice the abilities they learned in MIT classes. Then, they sell their product to raise money for a related charity.
