Our first Beyond the Classroom story comes from our Fencing club coach, Coach Tsanko.
At the Slovakia World Cup, Coach Tsanko brought in a Gold Medal as the U.S. National Coach. Sarah Lurye, a former BISC-LP student and fencer was one of the athletes who lead the U.S. team to the podium. Sarah began fencing about 10 years ago and is now one of the top U.S. Cadets fencers. Well done!
Congratulations Chess Team!!!
The BISC-LP Chess Team won first place in the non-rated division at the December Kumbaya Chess Tournament. What a great way to start off as a new team! There was some tough competition with a total of 8 schools overall, but BISC-LP had seven players score points toward the overall win. Great job to all involved!
The list of scoring players includes:
Luke B. - 4th place winner/ 3 wins
Johnny S. - 3 wins
Alex L. - 2 wins, 1 tie
Alexander Z. - 2 wins
Ethan P. - 1 win, 1 tie
Franklin G. - 2 ties
Youjia S. - 1 win
"We are so proud of all our players. Thank you to everyone that helped start the team; GM Chess, Becki Blumer, Ryan Till and Judy Godinho. We will be bringing in the school trophy this week." -Tara Beemsterboer, Chess Team Parent Coordinator
