About Our Arts Curriculum
The British International School of Houston's arts curriculum encourages students to develop skills like critical thinking, resilience, risk-taking, and discipline, which they can apply to the study of any subject. Students also develop their cultural literacy, broadening their understanding of cultural and social history around the world to give them a global experience.
Our arts programme inspires and equips our students with the skills, curiosity, and cultural literacy to engage with the arts throughout their lives.
Beyond the Curriculum
The Performing Arts at the British International School of Houston are flourishing, and we aim to provide opportunities well beyond the classroom. Our dedicated teachers are passionately committed to inspiring and developing young performers.
Performance Opportunities
Over the year, there are many different performance opportunities available to all students.
Performances can be something that students have been learning in an instrumental lesson; in or out of school; something that they've learned in class; or something that they've prepared.
Performances are also a regular feature of our school events, community celebrations, and class and year group assemblies.
Instrumental Lessons (BISH Studio)
Numerous instrumental and vocal lessons take place each week with visiting specialist music teachers. There are also opportunities for students to enter for external examinations with the Associates Board of the Royal School of Music.
