Our Senior Educators from BIS HCMC joined over 200 international teachers and leaders from Nord Anglia Education schools at the South East Asia, Middle East and India (SEAMEI) Teaching & Learning Conference 2025 in Abu Dhabi, during Term 2. This prestigious event united outstanding minds in education to explore key themes shaping the future of teaching and learning: leadership, resilience, innovation, and inclusion.

The three day conference held in February, provided a valuable platform for our teachers and senior leaders to exchange best practices, gain fresh insights, and engage in dynamic discussions on the future of education. Featuring inspiring keynote speeches, hands-on workshops, and thought-provoking panel sessions, the event empowered our teachers to refine their methodologies and drive innovation in their classrooms.

BIS HCMC Educators Committed to Delivering Outstanding Learning Experiences

For BIS HCMC educators, the conference was more than just professional development - it was engaging with peers from across the globe, exploring cutting-edge teaching strategies,  and deepening their expertise.  It truly reaffirmed their commitment to delivering outstanding learning experiences both in and outside of the classroom.

Reflecting on the conference, Anthony Rowlands, Principal, BIS HCMC, highlighted: “This unique conference provided many of our senior educators from across all our campuses an opportunity to develop their own knowledge and skills in a way they could bring back to BIS HCMC to enhance learning and wellbeing for all of our students. As my final year at BIS HCMC, before my retirement, it was inspiring to see our talented teachers and leaders collaborating, innovating, presenting, sharing best practice and networking to ensure our students have the best learning journey possible.  It has been visible to see the ideas and knowledge they brought back to inspire our teachers and students”.

Key sessions covered key topics, from harnessing the potential of Artificial Intelligence in education to promoting neurodiversity and fostering inclusive leadership. A major highlight of the conference was Nord Anglia’s pioneering research into metacognition—helping students understand how they learn, enhancing their problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities. Metacognitive strategies empower students to take ownership of their learning, fostering adaptability and independence.

Rob Walls, Head of Middle East Schools at Nord Anglia, highlighted the significance of this approach: "By embedding metacognitive strategies into classrooms, we enable students to become independent, self-directed learners. Through Nord Anglia’s education framework, which champions the 6 Cs—Critical Thinking, Creativity, Commitment, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Compassion—we prepare students to excel both in and beyond the classroom."

Beyond professional development, the conference was a celebration of the global Nord Anglia community—a powerful reminder of the shared purpose that unites our BIS HCMC teachers and leaders with all educators across our network.

As Ian Battersby, Primary Headteacher, Junior Campus, remarked: “For BIS HCMC leaders, it was not only an opportunity to learn but also to build lasting connections with colleagues from around the world. There is so much we can learn from our colleagues in other schools.  With so many school leaders in one place sharing initiatives and good practice, it was impossible not to be inspired and encouraged to consider our own practice, and how we can continue along our path of continual improvement."
