At BIS we hold Health and Safety as a key priority for our whole community. For this reason, I would like to remind you of a few procedures and expectations here on the Junior Campus.
With the recent concerns of the Novel Coronavirus, we will continue the medical procedures on entry to the site for all members of our community. Upon entry to Gate A, B or Gate C, you will be required to have your temperature taken using a handheld infared thermometer. In in the interest of decreasing the spread of potential illnesses, should your temperature be 37.8˚C or above the folowing precautions will be followed:
Please help your child to remember their water bottle daily. We will be closing off the option of drinking directly from the water fountain as a precaution during this current period of medical concern. We will provide the children with a paper cup if they have forgotten or misplaced their water bottle; however, it is always best for them to have their own easily accessible.
Children are expected to wear a face mask while moving around the school and this means that face masks should be brought to school daily.; however, teachers cannot be responsible for ensuring they are being worn correctly. Please name your child’s mask and ensure that they have a spare in case they misplace their original.
Hand sanitiser gel is available to use in communal areas and in every classroom; teachers will be asking children to use this regularly throughout the day. Hand wash soap will continue to be available in all washing facilities. Children will be reminded by teachers of how to ensure their hands are washed safely, leaving them hygienically clean. Please continue to help from home by reminding them of this skill.
As always, we ask for parents to keep their child at home if they are showing symptoms of any type of illness. Please continue to follow the advice within our parent handbook as detailed below.
For the wellbeing of our school community, if your child is unwell or sick overnight or when they wake in the morning they should be kept at home until they are rested and symptom free for at least 24 hours (48 hours for Diarrhoea).
Please keep your child at home if they exhibit any of the following symptoms;
To increase the security of our campuses at BIS, we are now implementing further robust gate procedures. At any time that a visitor wishes to enter the site, they will now be asked to provide identification (ID) containing a photograph e.g. driver’s license, residency card or passport. This ID will be compared with the person requesting access by the security guards. It will then be stored securely in the guard’s room in exchange for a visitor’s pass. The visitor’s pass must be worn around the neck at all times when on campus.
Please note that this applies to all parents, relatives, drivers and nannies of BIS students when they are not carrying their school ID security card. Please be aware that if you forget your school ID security card, you will be asked to leave photographic ID with the security guards in exchange for a visitor’s pass. Without this, you will be refused access to the site.
Prior to entry to the campus, all adults must complete a medical clearance and travel declaration. This is a Government expectation and, as time consuming as it may be, is an expectation.
Never forget your helmet when you are riding your motorbike, bicycle or scooter! This applies to all members of our community; children, parents, nannies, drivers and all other relatives. Remember, the children are rewarded with the Helmet Hero sticker if ALL riders of the motorbike or bicycle are wearing a helmet.
Just a few reminders from our children:
“Helmets save lives”
“No Helmet, No Future”
“Always put a helmet on, the way to save your life”
“Wear a helmet, snap the straps”
“Wear a helmet, better safe than sorry”
“No Helmet, No Motorbike”
