It's the summer holidays!
Congratulations to our Year 10 and Year 12 Biologists who took part in the Intermediate Biology Olympiad, which is organised by the UK Biology Competitions Committee and administered by the Royal Society of Biology.
The Royal Society of Biology aims to contribute to the creation of a world that understands the true value of Biology and how it can contribute to improving life for all, whether that is in healthcare, climate change, food security or alternative energy sources.
The Intermediate Biology Olympiad challenges students’ biology knowledge and encourages them to continue studying the biosciences beyond their high school education. The competition consisted of a one-hour multiple choice test taken online covering topics studied in the IGCSE and IB Diploma curriculum.
Participating in the online competition is something that our students can be proud of, and helps them stand out when applying for Science-related degrees at University. They are each rewarded with a one year subscription to BioNet to allow them to further explore areas of interest, add depth to topics studied in school, and stay connected with modern Science.
Top scoring students are also awarded with publicly recognised certificates. The students will find out their results later this month. Well done to everyone who took part.

At BIS HCMC we deliver in school a comprehensive wellbeing curriculum to provide our students with the tools, resources and support to balance their social, physical, emotional and mental health. As part of this, we also look at preventative measures to ensure the safety of our students beyond BIS and equip them with knowledge and skills for both today and their future success in the wider world.
This term we were extremely fortunate to welcome back into school experts from the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City’s Regional Security Office (RSO) to discuss more on the topic of drugs and substance abuse with some of our students and parents.
