On Friday 8th November a team of 28 BIS Barracudas travelled to Hanoi to compete in the UNIS Invitational. This swim meet is one of the most competitive meets in Vietnam, with 20 International Schools and over 500 students competing over 2 days of high quality competition.
The Barracudas produced outstanding results. Every single student achieved a new personal best time over the weekend. We achieved a total of 114 personal best times! For a small competitive team, we achieved outstanding results in the medal tally; 14 Gold, 12 Silver, 12 Bronze!
Each student was able to participate in 5 individual events. The Barracudas achieved 77 Top 10 Finishes over the weekend, this is an amazing feat, competing in age groups with 80 or more students!
Four of our Barracudas also achieved podium finishes for Individual Champions in their respective age group. An outstanding achievement by the following students;
We also had another 10 students who ranked in the top 10 for their age category; Wing Hei, Seohyun, Dakyeom, Ingrid, Ben, Hugo, Jack, Nhat Minh, YunJi and Ryan. This is an outstanding achievement.
The 7 – 8 Girls team, consisting of Anna, Seohyun, Dakyeom and Wing Hei also won the 7-8 Girls Team Trophy. The Barracudas girls team achieved the highest number of points out of all 20 International Schools.
The Barracudas placed in the top 3 teams in the following age groups/genders; 9-10 Girls, 9-10 Boys, 11-12 Girls, 11-12 Boys and 15 and over boys.
As a result, the Barracudas placed 4th overall, which is an outstanding performance with 28 students. We also placed 3rd in the Most Effective results.
Not only did the Barracudas achieve fantastic results over the weekend, they also broke 10 school records! Congratulations to the new record holders below;
Outstanding performers over the weekend were Alois and Quynh An. Alois placed 1st in every individual event he participated in, achieving a perfect score of 70 points. Quynh An achieved outstanding results, every time she entered the pool she achieved a new school record and a new personal best time.
