This year’s FOBISIA Primary Music Festival was hosted by the British School Manila and featured the theme ‘Thriller in Manila’. It was a fantastic event for all involved. You can find out more about this amazing opportunity for our primary students by reading this article by Beth Bown, Primary Music Leader.
15 young BIS musicians from Year 5 & 6 travelled to Manila to take part in three days of music-making with 11 other FOBISIA schools from around the region. Around 230 students made up the huge choir and orchestra who rehearsed throughout the weekend to prepare for a phenomenal Gala Concert, featuring a wide range of spooky music, including ‘Thriller’, ‘Superstition’, ‘Phantom of the Opera’ and even ‘O Fortuna’ from Carmina Burana. It was hard to believe that such amazing performances came from such young children and, once again, our students have made the BIS Music Department feel very proud. We look forward to next year’s festival which will take place at the British School New Delhi and will be based around the theme, ‘Music Inspired by India’.
