Dear Secondary School Community,
Dear Secondary School Community,
A reminder that this weekend we will be hosting the highly anticipated International Fair, marking the beginning of our exciting International Week. This event celebrates the rich diversity within our school community and provides a platform for cultural exchange and understanding.
During International Week, students will have the opportunity to engage in various activities that promote global citizenship and intercultural understanding. One highlight will be the community service stalls led by our students during lunchtime, organised according to their respective houses. This initiative not only showcases the talents and passions of our students but also emphasises the importance of giving back to the community.
This year, we link the festival and week with our broader goals of fostering global citizenship and promoting intercultural understanding. Our students will also focus on the progress and challenges associated with achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
I am looking forward to coming together to embrace diversity, celebrate our unique cultures, and work towards a more inclusive and sustainable world.
Yours sincerely,
Chris Newman

English - Key Stage 4 Literature
This term, Year 10 has been immersing themselves in the captivating world of poetry by studying the anthology of the infamous Ted Hughes in preparation for their IGCSEs next year. Ted Hughes, a renowned British poet, has inspired our students to explore various themes, perspectives, and literary techniques. Our students have engaged in dynamic discussions, analysing and annotating Hughes' poems from various critical perspectives and considering the bigger ideas within the poems. They have examined Hughe’s interest in traditions, nature, shamanistic religions, philosophy, and other social issues to think more perceptively. This approach has broadened their understanding of the intricate connections between literature and the world around them.
Additionally, Ms. Sands has been impressed by some of the perceptive ideas that her class (above) has been able to devise; it's even enabled her to consider alternative interpretations.
We commend our Year 10 Literature classes for their enthusiasm, collaboration, and thought-provoking discussions. Through the Ted Hughes anthology, they have embarked on a journey of literary exploration and personal growth.
