It has been a pleasure to see the children again after a week of holiday and we have had another wonderful week of learning in Phase 2!
The children have engaged enthusiastically in the learning and we would like to send a heartfelt thanks for all of the dedicated support which has come from home. It has been wonderful to see the Phase 2 community coming together in challenging times.
This week, in Year 3, the students have been learning all about 3D shapes. They have used their knowledge to construct diagrams and label the different properties. The Y3 Whole Class Reading Text is ‘George’s Marvellous Medicine’ and the children have enjoyed learning new vocabulary and practising their inference skills. In Literacy, the Year 3 children have been making videos to show the features of persuasive writing – it has been wonderful to see the children actively engaged in their learning!
In Year 4 this week, the children have been learning how to find equivalent fractions by multiplying or dividing the numerator and denominator of a fraction by the same number. They have using fraction walls to find equivalent fractions and solve problems. In Literacy, they have been making videos and story maps for the class explanation text, ‘The Teacher Pleaser’ – we have thoroughly enjoyed watching their videos! Our Whole Class Reading text is, ‘The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane’ and the children have been using their summarising skills to recount the events of chapters 1-6.
All classes also now have a daily Story Time session and these have been thoroughly enjoyed by teachers and students alike. This week will see the introduction of a Friday Phase 2 Story Time, to give the children the opportunity to share in the enjoyment of a wonderful story as a phase community.

As the academic year whirls by, the first term in primary school draws to a close, marking the end of a whirlwind of learning, growth, and new experiences.
As we move towards the end of term, our Primary exit points are always a great celebration of learning that has taken place over previous weeks and months.
At BIS, in addition to the excellent opportunities we are providing in the classroom, we enrich the students experiences and learning by taking them on day trips.
