BIS Students Demonstrate Care,Respect and Integrity

A couple of weeks ago I spoke to Year 6 as a cohort and invited them to apply for the leadership roles of House and Vice-Captains.

A couple of weeks ago I spoke to Year 6 as a cohort and invited them to apply for the leadership roles of House and Vice-Captains. Since then, well-written letters of application have been received by myself and Ms. Hill and on Thursday morning, our Year 6 applicants arrived at the Principal’s office, smartly dressed and well-prepared for their interview in House Groups.

We had the pleasure of talking to 16 extremely impressive students about what they think of our school, how we can continue to improve and the skills needed to be a role model. As the students shared their thoughts, they spoke about the importance of: caring for each other, looking out for their peers and helping new students. The integrity with which they spoke about learning from each other and understanding demonstrates the strong ethos within our school community.

These Year 6 students are already incredibly successful and should feel proud of the letters and the way they presented and spoke at interview. Whilst we know that not everyone can that applied can take on this role, we certainly feel they have already won.  Listening to students such as our Year 6’s and seeing how they flourish as they continue into the Secondary School gives us hope for the future of the world. These students are becoming real Global Citizens.

6S Caring Assembly
Today, in addition to leading a wonderful class assembly in the main building 6S also sent some students over to EYC to share their Caring story with Early Years Students. They shared important messages about including everyone and looking after everyone in our community.

International Week Meeting
Ms. Tong, shared our vision for International Week this afternoon with parents and it was wonderful to see so many in attendance. As one of our flagship events in the school calendar we always start preparing early.

Our International Fair will kick-start International Week and will be on Saturday 10th November, this will be followed by the Primary ‘Parade of Nations’ on Monday 12th November and our International Buffet on Friday 16th November. Parents are also invited to come in to lead sessions, share activities related to your home countries and generally just join in the fun and learning!

If you were unable to attend today and would like to get involved in any of the events highlighted above please contact the Primary Office. Alternatively, if you would like come and visit and help out in class, please contact your child’s class teacher who will be only too happy to facilitate this.
