Young Entrepreneurs at British International School Hanoi

Year 3 children brought their learning to life today and became ‘Young Entrepreneurs’. They have been busy working away over the last few weeks, making products, baking cakes and preparing food to sell at the Enterprise Fair which took place today. It began with a detailed presentation to parents about their learning which the children delivered with confidence and enthusiasm.

With their colourful stalls set up, trading began; the proceeds of this project will be donated to the Tam Dao Bear Project which they will visit next week. The children had clearly been working on their sales technique and were driving a hard bargain; it also tested their mental maths skills when totalling the cost for each customer. Their stock sold like hot cakes to students, staff and parents and they raised over 26 million VND for the Bear Sanctuary. Thank you to everyone involved who supported this project by coming along to buy treats and very well done to our Y3 Entrepreneurs.

Amazing Young Writers
Over the last few weeks, our F3 children have been producing some fantastic pieces of writing. Inspired by the author Jill Murphy’s story ‘Whatever Next’ they retold the story in their own words. This week they moved onto writing instructions. The children began by making jam sandwiches, which they devoured; then they wrote instructions on ‘how to make a jam sandwich’. The daily phonics, reading and opportunities to write have made an incredible impact on our F3 children who are taking risks, sounding out words they don’t know and producing some brilliant pieces of writing. Well done, we can’t wait to read your next work!

Romans v Celts

6B entertained us this afternoon whilst teaching us some important historical facts about the Romans and Celts, which they have been studying. The children spoke clearly and confidently whilst demonstrating some excellent acting and outstanding dance moves. It is clear the Y6 speaking program is having great impact as we listened to them presenting in assembly this afternoon. Well done 6B.

Spring Brunch
This week our Spring Brunch was advertised. It will be at the Moose + Roo on Sunday 8th of April. The location is perfect for families as there is lots of space and it is secure; in addition to the play areas there will be lots of fun activities such as children’s face painting and it is a great way for parents to catch up and make new friends. Our Christmas Parent Social at the Mad Society was a great success and I look forward to seeing you all on the 8th. Tickets are available from Marketing.
