Assessment and Reporting in Primary
It was lovely to welcome parents to our Assessment and Reporting workshop on Monday this week. Whilst we enrich our curriculum and create a broad range of opportunities for our students at school, academic progress and attainment is our priority.
We follow the English National Curriculum for Literacy, Maths, Science and use the International Primary Curriculum for our other subjects such as history, geography and art. The curriculum for literacy and maths has key skills and expectations for each year group from Year 1 to 6. The students’ attainment and effort for this term along with comments on their progress and has been issued today in the Primary December Report.
As we come to the end of a term and are reflecting on the students’ learning it is also important and powerful to ensure our young learners have the opportunity to reflect too. Inside the reports from Year 1 upwards you will find your child’s reflections on their successes, attitude to learning and next steps; talking about this with your child at home would also be incredibly rewarding I’m sure.
We will have an optional Parents’ Evening on Monday 11th of December where you are welcome to arrange an appointment with your child’s class teacher to talk about the report and your child’s progress.
House Sports
Wednesday was a busy day in the Primary school with House Sports for Phase 2 and 3. Our students took part in tee ball games in the house teams. It was great to see them really working together, encouraging each other and celebrating their efforts as a team. Our PE Team did a wonderful job organising this event and it is always lovely to welcome parents to these occasions.
Winter Concert
It was wonderful to see Primary students taking part in the colourful and dynamic Winter Concert of Wednesday night. Ms. Rea talked about the ‘musical journey’ that the children are on and it is amazing to see the array of talented performers in our school. Congratulations to all of the students who were involved in the concert and it was lovely to see so many parents in attendance.
What do dinosaurs, rapping and top trumps have in common? Our Year 3 students taught us all about Dinosaurs in their assembly today through songs and games. We also learned new vocabulary, with the help of Siri. It was a colourful and engaging assembly from Year 3B and 3I who shared their learning. The children spoke with confidence and clarity and were thoroughly enjoying themselves as they shared with students, staff and parents. Next week it is the turn of our youngest students in Early Years who will be performing their Winter Show on Tuesday at 9am.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
