When asked about his feelings upon receiving his results, Younes shared, "I felt quite relieved and was happy that the wait was over and that I had met my offer conditions."
Younes is going to the Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne (EPFL) for his further education. When asked about his decision, he explained, "My first choice was the Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne, as it is a top university both in general and for computer science, and it is also the university my brother attends."
A fun fact Younes shared about the Swiss Federal Institute of Lausanne is that it teaches both in English and French.
His passion for Computer Science stems from his love for problem-solving. Younes elaborated, "I chose to study Computer Science mainly because I've always enjoyed solving problems, and I feel this is the field where I can best carry that forward into a career."
Younes is eagerly anticipating his move to university. He is particularly excited about reuniting with his brother, immersing himself in a new culture, and improving his language skills.
Reflecting on his IB Diploma journey, Younes credits it with preparing him well for university. He remarked, "I expect the rigorous academic standard of IB will give me a good starting point in university. More practically, time management with deadlines and the ability to work independently towards a goal without too much intervention will be beneficial."
Looking to the future, Younes is interested in machine learning and aims to pursue a career in data science or software engineering. He aspires to work in an industry that focuses on the development and application of machine learning algorithms.
During his time at BIS Abu Dhabi, Younes was actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He was particularly engaged in debate and chess, which allowed him to develop critical thinking and strategic planning skills.
One of Younes's fondest memories from BIS Abu Dhabi was the ‘Biscars’ ceremony at the end of Year 6, marking the transition into Year 7. He recalled, "The Biscars ceremony at the end of Year 6 to mark the transition into Year 7 was a nice memory, celebrating that pivotal moment in education alongside my peers and family."
As Younes moves on to new adventures, he will miss picking up his younger brother at the end of the school day. This daily routine was a cherished part of his school life.
Congratulations, Younes! Your achievements and dedication are truly inspiring. As you embark on your journey at university, we are confident that your passion for Computer Science and problem-solving will lead to remarkable contributions.
