Staff Profile : Cassandra Ward, FS2 Teacher After I graduated, I decided to teach internationally, so for the first time I boarded a plane and set off for London, England. Each week we will feature a member of staff across all areas of the school including teachers, admin staff, support staff and more, to get to know members of our school family a little better. Our profile this week is Cassandra Ward, a FS2 Class Teacher.

I am from a beautiful peninsula on the East Coast of Canada called Nova Scotia. Not many people have heard of it, but I make sure to tell everyone about this wonderful place wherever I go. Although I have travelled to many places, I still spend every summer at home in Nova Scotia with my family and friends. 

It was there that I obtained my Bachelor of Education and gained a passion for teaching. After I graduated, I decided to teach internationally, so for the first time I boarded a plane and set off for London, England. I taught in London for a little over three years and feel privileged to have met so many people from all over the world, who taught me so much. 

After leaving London, I returned home to Canada, and knew I was ready for another adventure. I was contacted by a friend who was working at BIS Abu Dhabi at the time, applied for the job and found myself heading off to a part of the world I had never been to before. While in Abu Dhabi, I met my husband and got married in what is now my second home, Ghana.  

During my three years at BIS Abu Dhabi I have been lucky to have taught in FS2 and have developed a passion for learning through play. Nothing makes me happier than seeing children develop a love of learning. Everyday is something new and it is so rewarding to have watched every little person I have taught learn and grow.
