At St Andrews International School Bangkok, we are proud to offer one of the most comprehensive swimming programmes in Thailand, with diverse pathways to develop as an athlete and suitable entry points for everyone. Our STA Marlins Swimming programme caters to students of all ages and skill levels. With a strong inclusive philosophy that complements the ethos of our school, our swimming department provides a safe environment for children and young athletes to learn and develop their aquatic skills. Whether a child is just starting out, a budding athlete, or aiming to compete at a national level, at St Andrews Bangkok, we have opportunities for every swimmer’s needs.

Training Schedule for ECA Swimming

 

Our Swimming ECA sessions are available in the following time slots.



 

STA Marlins Swimming at Primary School

 

Our Marlins Swimming programme at Primary School offers various squads to cater to students of varying experience levels. All swimmers are welcome to join a squad appropriate to their ability, where they can develop fundamental techniques and build endurance through fun and engaging training sessions.


The Primary School swimming squads are as follows:


  1. Learn to Swim – Beginner level, focusing on fundamental swimming techniques in freestyle and backstroke.


  1. Learn to Swim Advanced – With a main focus on freestyle and backstroke, adding introduction to basic breaststroke and butterfly.


  1. Mini Marlins – Exploring all four strokes with continued technique development and introduction of basic training sets.


  1. Blue Squad – Learning to train with a focus on strengthening technique for all four strokes and improving endurance, developing the ability to swim longer sets.


  1. Black Squad – Learning to compete with a focus on advanced drills and challenging sets to further improve endurance and technique.


  1. Synchronised Swimming – An engaging programme introducing young swimmers to the fundamentals of synchronised swimming, including water safety, rhythm, and choreography.


  1. Water Polo – A fun and dynamic introduction to the sport, building foundational techniques in swimming, passing, and ball handling, while fostering cooperation and communication among teammates.

STA Marlins Swimming at High School 

 

Similarly, our High School Marlins Swimming Squad offers four levels to help students build a solid foundation in swimming. From complete beginner to seasoned competitive, we provide a supportive environment for swimmers to improve their skills and gain valuable experience in competitions.


The High School swimming squads are as follows:


  1. Blue Squad – For students new to swimming and looking to learn key aquatic skills in a fun environment.


  1. Silver Squad – For students focused on building a solid base of technique and fitness.


  1. Gold Squad – For students preparing to train at a higher level and gain competition experience. 


  1. Elite Squad – For swimmers who love to train at a competitive, national level. 


  1. Synchronised Swimming – An opportunity to further develop aquatic skills in an artistic team environment. Swimmers will engage in a variety of training sessions focused on improving their swimming techniques, choreography, and teamwork.


  1. Water Polo – A fantastic programme to build physical fitness and team spirit, focusing on swimming techniques, ball handling, tactical strategies, and game play. Students of all skill levels are encouraged to join, allowing newcomers to learn the fundamentals alongside seasoned players.

 

Marlins Explorer

 

A sub-programme available on Saturdays and Sundays, designed for those who wish to explore swimming and develop their skills. The programme is offered at three levels:


  1. Explorer 1 — equivalent to Primary ‘Learn to Swim’ squad.


  1. Explorer 2 — equivalent to Primary ‘Mini Marlins’ and ‘Blue Squad’.


  1. Explorer 3 — equivalent to High School ‘Silver’ squad and above.

Marlins Recreational Group

 

For new students, or those with no prior swimming experience, our Marlins Recreational Group offers a structured learning environment where students can build their skills and confidence in the water. With smaller group sizes and experienced coaches applying the ‘Learn to Swim’ format, students can make steady progress towards their swimming goals.

 

These group sessions will be available on Tuesdays after school.

Marlins Academy

 

For experienced, elite swimmers who wish to train and compete at national level. STA houses two teams within our Marlins Academy, who train rigorously under the guidance of our top coaches: 


  1. Junior Team — For experienced 13-year-olds and under. Qualification depends on the ability of each swimmer.


  1. Senior Team — For experienced 13-year-olds and above. Qualification depends on the ability of each swimmer.
