Head's Lines: Drama Mock Exam, Primary Garden Opening, PTG, Remembrance Sunday, APEC and First Aid Training GD

Last Thursday I was lucky enough to be able to watch our Year 11 Drama students perform their unscripted plays. These mock exams were plays they created themselves in groups and then performed.

The end result featured some excellent scenes and fantastic performances by all the students involved.

I am sure they all did exceptionally well in their encore performances for their final exams the following day.

Opening the garden

We have all been looking forward to the opening of the new recreation space next to the Key Stage 2 building in the Primary School.

Last Friday, we celebrated the opening of this new area with all children invited to come and look at what has been set up as a garden space for them to enjoy.

There is a spacious area where whole classes will be able to grow different plants and vegetables. We shall be working with lots of the year groups to make an exciting, wildlife friendly environment that not only our Primary children will enjoy, but lots of plants and creatures as well.

Two fruit trees were planted in the garden to mark the opening. There was lots of discussion about what else could be planted and grown in this area to encourage lots of insects, birds and animals to come and visit our garden. It will continue to be developed in the coming months and will gradually develop into a really fantastic outside learning environment for all ages.

We shall be developing several other areas over the coming weeks, and hopefully we’ll be able to set them up during the Christmas holidays. These charming spaces will offer all our children greater opportunities for playing on a wider range of equipment and having more sustainable spaces which will become a far better natural learning environment for everyone.

Thank you, PTG!

A huge thank you to the PTG committee members who spent a considerable amount of time sorting out and then setting up a sale of second hand uniforms to our community.

As you can tell from the information below, it was a great success and will certainly be repeated in the near future to help our community and raise further funds for charity

Second hand uniform sale!

Thank you to our amazing school community who contributed second hand uniforms. We had two very successful sales at both campuses. A total of 44,150 Baht was raised. That’s a great start to reach our PTG Charity collection goal of 100,000 Baht.

This money will be donated to worthy charities, which are yet to be confirmed. If you wish to make suggestions, please email shu@standrews.ac.th

In the meantime, we would like to call on you all once again for your donations of good quality used uniforms. PE and swimming kits are the most sought after items, so please consider donating these items if you have any outgrown ones at home.

There will be a uniform donation box placed at the front of Primary School Security, and outside the Uniform Shop at High School.

The next sale will be held next month during the Christmas fairs. Please note we are unfortunately unable to do individual sales or online sales.

Remembrance Sunday

Last Sunday representatives from our school attended the Remembrance Service at the British Club Bangkok. The service marks the sacrifices of military and civilian servicemen and women from Britain and the Commonwealth involved in the two world wars and later conflicts. Eloise Peth from Year 10 laid a wreath on behalf of our school community as part of the service.

At the current time it seems conflicts leading to war continue around the world where soldiers and innocent people are having to face incredibly difficult situations and especially the loss of life. Given these challenges around the globe, this thought provoking event reminds us of the price that much too often must be paid for the peace and stability we enjoy.
