The FS1 students had a wonderful time last week, learning to play, listening to stories and enjoying their new designed space at the heart of the school.
Ms Isla and Ms Felicia have been welcoming more students each week now to join the FS1 students that are already here at STA. We welcome you all!
FS2 enjoyed looking at the lifecycle of a butterfly this week by studying the life of a real caterpillar. They read the story ‘Coco the Butterfly’ together before looking at a real caterpillar that they had found in their garden. They studied the different stages of its transition from caterpillar to butterfly. What a wonderful way to study nature!!
Over the last few years STA has had a link with Mae Fah Luang, an educational Foundation in Chiang Rai, in the north of Thailand. Various teachers have been to visit the area and support the teachers there in teaching in a more International style, sharing good teaching practice and understanding the differences between working in a big city International school and a rural mountain community. Last week a group of teachers came to school to observe teachers and students in the classrooms. The practices they witnessed will be fed back to teachers working in mountain schools in the north of Thailand.
Thank you to all the students and staff that participated in Freaky Friday last week. There were games to play at Break time and other activities like colouring set up as well. The students and staff made such a great effort to dress up in their freakiest costumes and they all looked amazing!! The money raised by donations will go to our House Charities.
For our next TASKMASTER challenge, we want to see your best dance movements! You must choose an animal and create a 30-second dance as your chosen animal. Once you have filmed your dance, please send it to Mrs Katie (Katie.od@standrews.ac.th) and share your work on Global Campus.
Deadline: 11th November 2022
Being able to communicate is one of the most important skills we need in life. Almost everything we do involves communication; everyday tasks such as learning at school, asking for food and drink, sorting out problems, making friends and having fun. These all rely on our ability to communicate with each other. Some students in St Andrews rely on Makaton signs to communicate. We want to educate the wider community of our school to ensure inclusivity for all of our Makaton users inside and outside of school. This week we start with a very simple, but very important sign. All staff, children and parents can practise at home.
A special thank you to a dedicated parent, Ms Joey, who has been busy working with STARs Coordinator Ms Emma to kickstart our 'Sign of the Week'. Joey has shown her creativity and dedication to Makaton in making short educational videos to teach staff, students and parents a new sign each week. A massive thank you also goes to Joey's daughter Anna for sharing her passion of Makaton throughout the school. Keep your eyes peeled each week for the 'Sign of the Week' in our newsletter.
Let's get signing!
