Head's Lines: International Day, Marlin Mayhem, and Freaky Friday

Last Friday's International Day at the High School was fantastic! There were some brilliant activities across the school which really inspired young people to think about a wide range of international issues.

During break time there were plenty of high quality, student led performances taking centre stage in the Atrium. With nearly 600 students putting on a colourful and creative song and dance extravaganza, including a huge flash mob dance on the football pitch, it was clear to see how much everyone enjoyed this celebration.

A massive thank you to all our parents who planned, cooked, and served a wonderful culinary feast representing countries and cultures from all around the world. There were some exceptional tastes and flavours for all to enjoy and experience, perhaps even for the first time. This event could not have happened without the extraordinary efforts and generosity of our Parents Teacher Group (PTG). Special thanks must go to all the country representatives who really went the extra mile to make an especially memorable International Day.

Marlin Mayhem

MMM

On Saturday I was at the High School once again for the Marlin Mayhem Swim Meet. There were ten international schools participating, and the remarkable atmosphere of camaraderie and competition made this event a success. Both swimmers and spectators alike enjoyed all the races, and all young athletes gave their best during the two day event.

The staging of the whole competition was truly impressive. From the wide range of vendors present to the large tents for the teams through to the actual organisation of races, it was an unforgettable celebration of swimming and a testament to the many young people dedicated to this sport in Bangkok.

A huge thank you to our Swim Team for organising this event. They were supported brilliantly by the Estates Team, as well as many administrative and teaching staff from across the school. Well done to everyone involved!

Thai Japanese Art and Cultural Exchange, Fahsai Y8f

Fahsai

Congratulations to one of our Year 8 students Fahsai (8f). She was selected as a student participant in the Thai Japan Cultural Fair organised by the Thai Japanese Education Exchange Association from 11-17 October 2022. As part of a Thai dance troupe selected to attend this event, Fahsai performed a selection of famous Thai traditional dances at Umekoji Park in Kyoto, Japan.

Through these and other performances during the event, it is hoped that Thai culture can be better shared and appreciated in Japan. Through this cultural exchange the strong relationship that already exists between Japan and Thailand can be further enhanced.

It is also a wonderful achievement for Fahsai to be selected to attend and perform in the fair. We are all very proud of her.

Freaky Friday

FF

We look forward this week to Freaky Friday when everyone is encouraged to come dressed in their Halloween costumes. It is hoped that everyone will get into the “spirit” of the day and really enjoy the activities that will take place. In High School a scary good time can be expected at the Halloween Party which I know will be popular with our KS3 students. They should have a great time dancing the night away and enjoying the haunted house, as well as the other strange things that go bump during this night.
