FS3 invite people in to talk about their jobs, Year 6 have a Transition Day in High School, and ECAs start.

Year 6 Science and Art transition

On the 6th of September, some of the Year 6 students (the rest will go on the 13th), were invited to High School for the first transition events of the year. There was an introduction by the Heads of Year 7 as well as lessons with Art and Science teachers. The children used mixed media to create impressive artwork based on different insects and did an excellent job. Or they drew portraits of a classmate using different and fun techniques - observation of the subject was the key focus.

In the science labs, to support the Year 6 Science work on the human body, the children had the opportunity to dissect a heart under the supervision of class teachers and Science teachers from High School. It was a fascinating session, and the students were extremely sensible whilst opening up the different chambers of the heart! Click here to learn more about the transition to Year 7.

FS3 find out about different people’s jobs

Last week, Foundation Stage 3 invited various parents and friends into the school to talk about the different jobs they do. Theo’s Dad came in and talked about being a Data Protection Officer here at STA, Lapi’s Dad came in to talk about what life is like being an engineer, and we also had Mr Rochella coming to talk to the students about life as a professional footballer, playing for Thai Port FC here in Bangkok.

The students learned about what the jobs entail, what special tools or uniforms are needed and what they may need to study or work at to do the same job in the future. More parents will come to school in the following weeks to share their jobs with the students.

Ms Pepa invites parents in for a Phonics Session

Last week also saw Ms Pepa invite parents in to understand a little more about how the students learn phonics in FS3. The sessions explored how the sounds are taught and what may be expected of the students throughout the year. These important sessions support the parents in helping to teach their children the different sounds and start them on the exciting journey of becoming a reader.

ECAs Start at Primary

This afternoon saw the first day of the ECA programme running at STA. Clubs ranging from Mindfulness to Robotics ran across the school and the full sports programme. It was so great to see so many students involved in extending their learning after school and getting involved in the after school activity system. Over the next 10 weeks, the ECA programme will run each day after school.

STA does Taskmaster again!

This time we are getting foody. The challenge is to create a face using food. This can be using breakfast, lunch, dinner or even your second breakfast! We hope to see some extremely creative ideas with some exotic foods.

To enter, please send a photo of your entry to Mr James (james.th@standrews.ac.th). The deadline is Sunday, 25th of September. House points will be given for every entry received, with even more for the winners!

If you are struggling with ideas see the Google Slides for the creative and yummy ideas our House Team came up with.
