Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Platinum Jubilee a few months ago and was one of the world's longest reigning monarchs, along with His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The photo above shows them together at a state banquet at the Grand Palace in October 1996.
You can read more about their relationship, and the Queen’s visits to Thailand, in this Bangkok Post article: Long-reigning Thai and British monarchs shared a bond.
The world has changed a great deal since 1952, but for many British people, and others all around the world, the Queen has been a constant part of our lives throughout that time.
Over the coming days we will plan ways in which our community can pay their respects.
The term is flying by, with Activities beginning this afternoon and a large number of trips and events taking place, and it is now less than six weeks until our High School International Day - a celebration of our global community and always one of the highlights of the School year.
The International Buffet Lunch is always one of the most eagerly anticipated parts of International Day. Thank you very much to all those parents who have already volunteered to help with this, either at the PTG Coffee Morning or by emailing the PTG.
In October 2020, we had 23 different countries represented, as shown on the map above.
This year, we already have Country Reps from 29 countries, highlighted on the table below.
Please can the Country Reps for those countries highlighted in blue confirm to the PTG that they can share their contact details with other parents.
If you would still like to get involved, either by joining one of the highlighted countries or by representing another of the 61 nationalities that we now have in the High School, please email the PTG and then attend next Tuesday’s International Day Country Reps Meeting. It would be great to have even more of our 61 nationalities, and maybe even some that are not included in the list above, represented.
Last week our Year 8 ED students created the first episode of STA News, a weekly 2-3 minute video roundup of events, sport news and House Points in the High School.
You can watch this first episode above, and look out for future episodes on our Facebook page.
A reminder that Friday is a Wellbeing Day, so a long weekend for all students and teachers. Term 1 is very long, so we added this to our School Calendar to give all members of the STA Community time to pause after a very busy first five weeks of the new School year.
You can view all the School's live Google Calendars, and add our calendars to your personal Google Calendar, via Moodle.
