The students prepared for this last week by watching Geo’s video on Down Syndrome, and by discussing what we mean by Inclusion. You can see some of their thoughtful responses below:
Embracing Differences students, and their friends from their Tutor Groups, will be hosting a variety of stalls and activities planned throughout the week and the week will end with a 'Rock Your Odd Socks' Dance during lunchtime on Friday.
It has been a great couple of weeks for the Arts in the High School, starting with the IB Visual Arts Exhibition two weeks ago. As you can see from the very brief highlights above, there was some excellent work on display, with students working in a huge variety of both media and themes.
Last week we saw a wonderful IB Music Recital by Simon, in which he performed both two of his own compositions and two adaptations, alongside a number of guest musicians, including some of our Music teachers.
You can watch Simon’s edited video of his Recital here.
Finally, this week, Key Stage 3 students are watching Reel Drama, this year’s Virtual Drama Showcase, in their Drama lessons.
As in previous years, the Drama Showcase features a range of different performances, from students in different Year Groups, created both in their Drama lessons and in Drama Activities during the year so far. You can watch one of these performances here.
After the return of Sports fixtures just after half-term, it is great to see the Arts live again, and we are looking forward to much more of this, including both the High School Production and EXPO ‘22, next term.
In this week's University Update, we would also like to congratulate Tre and Manon for their offers to study sport-related subjects at universities around the world.
It is great to see Year 13 students make the most of both the STA Sports Programme and the specialist subjects available at both (I)GCSE - Biology and PE - and IBDP - Biology and Sports, Exercise and Health Science - as they prepare for further study and then future careers in this area.
Tre
“I want to study Sports at university as sport has allowed me to express myself in different ways and gave me a platform to not only entertain others but make myself feel at peace. I’ve always wanted to pursue Sports and I knew that in the future I would like to work in a Sports environment.”

Tre plans to accept the offer from Universidad Europea to study Physical Activity and Sports Sciences.
Manon
“I have always had a passion and talent for sports, specifically football and throughout my sports career, I always had the drive to help my teammates recover from injuries to reach an optimal performance as a team. With this determination, I knew I wanted to pursue a course at university that combined sports and health. Physiotherapy seemed to be the perfect choice for me.”
