Year 9 students create surreal images of how they see themselves.
Year 9 Art students have been studying the Surrealist art movement, which explored different perceptions of reality and consciousness during the twentieth century. In response to this topic, our students have been creating self-portraits, with a twist. The outcomes are highly individual and very imaginative and also give us some idea of how the younger members of our community see themselves. The work is often witty, reflective and always individual. Here is a small selection.
Our artist of the week is new to St Andrews International School Bangkok. Finn has made a great start with these wonderful experimental drawings, which use vibrant and dynamic line and colour.
With the goal of providing meaningful help to the flood victims in the northern regions of Thailand, our entire community at St Andrews Bangkok came together to raise funds and donations for the affected families. In the span of a few short weeks, added to donations of food and clothing, we managed to raise an astounding total of 386,676.50 THB in donation funds. To all students, teachers, parents, and staff who participated in our efforts and contributed to this cause—thank you!
