The PTG held its first Committee meeting in the first week of school and we’re excited to share with you all the things we’re planning. Watch this space as Parent Activities and get-togethers will be announced soon. Our first PTG meeting open to all parents will be held 11 September. And don’t forget to come along to a Second-hand Uniform Sale and snap up a bargain!

Sporting their brand new badges, members of the PTG were on hand on the first day of school to chat to new and returning parents, and to point them in the right direction if they were lost. Coffee Mornings were held at both High School and Primary School. And in case you missed the PTG presentation at Primary School, here are some important dates for your diary:

International Day
High School: Fri 11 Oct 2019
Primary School: Fri 18 Oct 2019

Christmas Fair
High School: Wed 11 Dec 2019
Primary School: Thu 12 Dec 2019

Fun Day
Sat 7 Mar 2020

Songkran Day
Fri 3 Apr 2020

The members of the PTG Committee have held their first meeting and are already busy planning. Vilai is in charge of organizing the Parent Activities and we will shortly be announcing a whole array of exciting classes to choose from. We have dedicated PTG Focal Groups for High School (led by Axel) and Primary School (led by Anja) and they have already set the dates of their first meetings with the Heads of High School (Mr Roo) and Deputy Head of Primary School (Mr Steve). Jamie is the point of contact for the STARS programme and Special Educational Needs (SEN). Sarah has been busy collecting stock for the second-hand uniform sales and is holding sales this week (see dates below). And we have already worked on behind-the-scenes-issues that were brought to our attention. If there’s something at school you’re concerned about, please write to us at ptgchair@standrews.ac.th.

And please remember that we’re a volunteer group of parents doing what we can to help, but that some things are simply beyond our control. One such issue is the school tuition fee, in which we have absolutely no say, as we are not represented on any board. In line with our Constitution (available on Moodle), we can “strengthen relationships” and “facilitate communication” between parents and School. As such, ever since the tuition fee was announced, we have been in continuous contact with school management to draw their attention to parent concerns in this matter. We at the PTG are just as affected by rising tuition fees as any of you. We are planning our first PTG meeting open to all parents in mid-September. You will receive an email with the date in the next few days and be invited to submit to our agenda issues you would like to discuss.

Second-hand Uniform Sale

As mentioned elsewhere in the Newsletter, the PTG is holding a sale of second-hand uniforms. Everything is 100 baht each! If you missed the Primary School sale on 26 August and wish to purchase uniforms, please drop Sarah a line at: shu@standrews.ac.th

The next sale at High School will be held on Wed 28th August 2019, 7:15 am - 10:00 am, in front of the library.

All proceeds will go towards purchasing uniforms for children in need, via the Baan Dek Foundation!

Staying up to date with the PTG

Stay in touch

The PTG has a Facebook group where you can find lots of useful information about St Andrews International School Bangkok as well as getting used to living in Bangkok if you are new to the city. If you would like to contact us about something specific, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by email on ptgchair@standrews.ac.th. Wondering who the Committee members are? Put faces to names by checking the school website or the PTG section of Moodle, which also contains our Constitution.
