Primary athletes from St Andrews International School Bangkok were out in full force this past week and over the weekend and had some amazing results.
What a really positive week of sport with so many children representing STA. I hope all the children enjoyed their tournaments, swim meets and new challenges. All the coaches are really happy with the attitude of our children and they are looking forward to a great year ahead. Please see the reports below to find out about Primary sport as we had so much on show from tennis, football, X country to swimming and basketball.
All our Primary teams were in action on Saturday at the Shrewsbury Festival. We had 60 children playing in this tournament with two U11 boys and two U9 teams in action plus our U9 and U11 girls. Our children were a credit as always playing some awesome football. This was their first tournament of the year and unfortunately, due to the storm, we were unable to finish. But both our U11 boys and U9 girls were undefeated in their tournaments.
Last week saw our Primary tennis players compete in several fixtures. On Thursday, several children played at Bangkok Patana in an U13 BISAC Team and then on Saturday our children were in action again in a tournament at Harrow.
It is great to see our players getting better and better the more they are exposed to competition.
If you would like to get involved in our Tennis programme we have lots of opportunities available for all players. Please contact Coach Pair by email at pair.ch@standrews.ac.th for more information.
It has been a busy week of basketball with over 50 children playing basketball for us this week. Firstly, our U11 boys Flames team playing their first TISAC fixture on Thursday. Our boys were incredible and played a high level of basketball. In the end it was a clear victory, but harder challenges will come.
Secondly, on Friday all our U11 Blaze squads went to Shrewsbury for some BISAC friendlies. We are trying to give as many opportunities as possible to all the children in our squads and some children were representing St Andrews International School Bangkok for the very first time. The teams had a great time and produced some very good basketball.
It was our first Swim Meet of the year with our swimmer competing at the Tiger Prawn Swim Meet. Over 50 of our young swimmers competed and had a great time with some children swimming for STA for the first time. Our swimmers have a busy period coming up with swim meets in October and November. Thank you for the children for being awesome and parents who came to support our young Marlins.
Twenty four of our STA athletes competed in the BISAC X Country. Last year was our first time participating in this event with our U11 Girls being crowned champions and our U11 Boys coming 3rd. This year our students competed hard again and produced some brilliant performances. We are still waiting for the official results to be sent to us with our girls either coming first or second and our boys likely 4 or 5 out of 10 teams.
