This week, we welcome five other International Schools to Bangkok for the U13 Games hosted by St. Andrews. It is a great honour to host this event and for our athletes to represent STA at a home Games.
The Athletics and Swimming will take place at Chulalongkorn University on Saturday 18th March, with both Football and Basketball tournaments taking place at Soccer Pro On Nut 17 on Sunday and Monday. The Games will close with a Gala Dinner at the Double Tree by Hilton on Monday evening.
As the host school, we are responsible for all aspects of the visiting teams’ stay, from airport transfers to food, transport, accommodation, venues, referees, trophies & medals, souvenirs, staffing, entertainment and medical cover. It is a big undertaking and lots of Administrative staff have been working hard to bring everything together.
My thanks to them for their help. We look forward to a great Games!
On Saturday, we had our first competitive games against another Academy here at STA. We won both the U11 and U13 with our mixed teams. They played with tremendous spirit and the U13s held their nerve in a tense 1-point game.
We hope to make this a regular feature of our Saturday training and to make a name for ourselves on the Academy circuit. It will help bring a new focus to the many ballers who are now joining our busy Saturday programme.
The U9 Football Teams played at the annual Patana U9 Tournament on Saturday. The U9 boys played brilliantly and were so close to winning the tournament after they beat Patana 2-1. The girls U9 team similarly played so well and could have won the tournament, but finished in 2nd place. All our teams played some lovely football and the children enjoyed what was another positive experience for them. Thank you to the parents who came to support the teams.
We frequently have requests to organise events for staff and parents to come together for some friendly sport.
We have had a great response for our first football festival on Tuesday 4th April and will have four parent teams taking on the STA staff (I’m afraid that we can’t take any more on this occasion).
Next term, we have plans to arrange a Community Sports Day, with opportunities to come together & enjoy a range of sports at the weekend. Surely this will prove very popular and we'll work with the PTG to ensure we have a fun, sporty day full of laughter and friendly competition.

Well done to Suthee who has been selected to play for the U19 Thailand National Football Team. Suthee has always been a very talented footballer and now his skill has been recognised at a very high level. This is a massive achievement and the beginning of his dream to play football to the highest level. We hope he continues to work hard and wish him all the best in getting selected to play for the first 11.
Well done to all the KS2 Children for their fantastic efforts for both the Year 3 & 4 Sports Day and the Year 5 & 6 Sports Day. Both Sport Days were so close, with an exceptional team effort by Lahu winning the Year 5 & 6 Sports Day by only 30 points. Karen stole the Year 3 & 4 away from Yao on the final race. Thank you to all the Year 5 children who were leaders at the Year 3 & 4 Sports Day: you were amazing. Also, a big thank you to the teachers and the parents for your support.
The final Sports Day will be the Reception Sports Day on May 8th.
