Join our upcoming Open Days to learn about the outstanding education at ISM
Over the past number of weeks our Primary children have been working hard to be crowned the 2020 ISM Spelling Bee Champion.
Their mission was to recite as many words as possible, spelt correctly, within 60 seconds. Every child from Year One all the way up to Year Six had the opportunity to be involved and many seized the chance to work on their spelling and compete against their peers.
The words varied between each year group from words such as ‘shark’ in Year One to words including ‘mischievous’ and ‘convenience’ in Year Six. In every year group, the children exceeded all expectations to master their list of spellings and recite them so swiftly.
First, class competitions were held, with the winners then going to a campus final. Then, the campus final took place to identify the speediest spellers on each campus. Finally, a Cross Campus Final was held to find the overall winner in each year group.
[[\media\ISM Spelling Bee 2.mp4]]The winners from each competition were somehow getting faster in each round, with our overall record being set in our Year Five competition. Not only is the record a hard-to-believe 29 words, but two of our Year Five students achieved this magnificent score, being crowned joint Year Five winners. The contestants were so fast that our judges had to carefully review slow-mo footage to determine the winners!
We are very proud of our winners, but also of every student who tried their best in the competition and practised and improved their spellings. We look forward to future opportunities for students to showcase their reading and writing skills.
Congratulations to our new 2020 ISM Spelling Bee Champions.
