The broad diversity of The International School of Moscow’s community should be celebrated and embraced on a daily basis, and this encompasses upholding our school values. Here at the International School of Moscow we take bullying extremely seriously. We support all students within our community and will never tolerate bullying.

This year’s Anti-Bullying Week, under the theme ‘Reach Out’, was marked from 14th to 18th November in line with Schools in the United Kingdom.

We kicked off the week off with an Odd Sock Day, highlighting the importance of students being able to show and express themselves freely whilst celebrating their own individuality and what makes us all unique.

The Principal of The International School of Moscow, Mr Keach, delivered a thought-provoking assembly to the Secondary School on the topic. This was followed towards the end of the week with an Upper Primary assembly, led by Mr Ralph, about the importance of being positive towards one another.

Perhaps the most poignant event over the course of the week was the collective signing our Campus pledge to stamp out bullying. The huge banner, now full of student and staff signatures, states “I will not be a Bully. I will help the bullied and I will speak up against Bullying” and is displayed in the canteen as an ongoing reminder for our community.

Upon adding their names to the pledge, students received a special badge, which they now wear with pride.

Nord Anglia’s Global Campus platform has a wealth of resources, articles and activities relating to the topic of bullying and students used their tutor time and PSHE lessons to access many of these, which led to fantastic discussions about communication, respect, tolerance and understanding.

On Friday 18th November the Upper Campus was awash with the colour blue as we celebrated World Children’s Day, UNICEF’s annual day of action for children. The colour was originally chosen for its diverse associations to sadness but also peace.
