Message from the Head of Primary
It was lovely to be a part of ‘Stay and Play’ this week, where we welcomed many of the children starting in our Nursery classes in September. In fact, many of our ‘new’ children are siblings, and it was great to see so many of our NAS families preparing their children to follow in big brother or sister’s footsteps. As you may already be aware, the EYFS unit here at NAS Dubai is attracting a lot of positive attention both locally and even internationally. Right from our first day we set out to become the leading exponent of English Early Years best practice in Dubai. Although there are always things we can do to improve further, there are some truly amazing things going on in our EYFS. Oxford University Press became aware of the outstanding practice taking place here and selected us to be a model school for some of their latest teaching and training materials. With this in mind, OUP sent a film crew into EYFS yesterday, to document some of the work that we do. The film crew spent the whole day in school and our EYFS children were very excited by the presence of the camera men! OUP were rather pleased with the way the filming went and will now be spending a few weeks editing the many hours of film down to fifteen minutes. They are hoping to have this complete by the end of June, so we can share the product of the filming with you at some point in the future; it will be a great record and celebration of our first year.
Have a great weekend; I hope to see many of you at the Gala Dinner tomorrow.

Message from the Head of Secondary
It is good to be back at NAS Dubai after a week in the UK. The event organised by Nord Anglia Education was a inspiring and led by many leading voices in education. Learning is central to success at all levels. I am truly delighted at the level of work Nord Anglia Education puts into the development of staff in our schools. I will be talking to our students in assembly on Monday about my own learning and how it impacts them.
This week has been exam week and I have been impressed by our students' dedication. As promised there will be no homework next week, hopefully this will allow you to have some time together as a family.
On Wednesday we welcome into school our new Year 7 students and our current Year 6 students for Transition Day. Transition from primary to secondary is a scary time for all as they move into a new setting. The day is laid out to offer both parents and students reassurance about secondary. A great opportunity to meet fellow students, teachers and dispel any nervous before day 1.
Have a great weekend.
Liam Cullinan

As you may have noticed, we have a number of bags and boxes of goods for Nepal at Chatterbox Cafe. We'd very much like to get these to the Red Crescent within the next two weeks. If anyone within the Parent Community can assist us with transportation of the goods. Please contact us at nascharityofficer@gmail.com / Donna Limin - 050 2491419.
