ENTRANCE ASSESSMENT
We’re an inclusive school, built on academic achievement and home to a vibrant, international community of students. All students wishing to attend NAS Dubai must sit an admission assessment. Dates for assessments are arranged throughout the school year.
We consider each application individually, taking into account academic ability, behaviour and any additional learning needs.
EARLY YEARS-YEAR 1
• Nursery/School Report and recommendation form (if applicable)
• Short assessment video
Nursery, Reception and Year 1 children are assessed through a short video and a recommendation form and school report (if required). Our Primary school team will look for indicators of your child’s readiness for school, their language and communication skills and their social interaction.
YEARS 2-4
• Latest School report
• Recommendation form
• Reading (video) and writing sample
Students enrolling in years 2-4 are assessed on their school report, a recommendation form and a reading and writing sample. These assessments are arranged by our Admissions department and reviewed by our Primary School Team.
YEARS 5-6
• Latest School report

Students wishing to enter Year 5 and 6 sit an online version of the CAT4 exam, plus recording a reading and writing sample and supplying their latest school report and a recommendation. Their assessment is reviewed by our Primary School Team.
YEARS 7-8

Prospective year 7 and 8 students’ assessments are reviewed by our Secondary Leadership Team. They sit the CAT4 exam, and English and Maths papers, plus supply school reports, recommendation forms and an online reading sample.
IGCSE (YEARS 9, 10 and 11)

IGCSE students at NAS Dubai start at the beginning of year 9 for a course lasting three years. On a case-by-case basis, the school will consider a start in Year 10 but no later than the end of the first half of Term One (October). Students looking to attend Year 9 and our IGSCE years sit CAT4, English and Maths papers along with supplying their latest report and a recommendation form. We don’t normally consider enrolling IGSCE students in year 11.
International Baccalaureate (Years 12 and 13)
• Cat4, English and Maths paper-based assessment, before meeting the IB team to discuss
• Overseas admission based on our assessments taken at current school
• Successful students are offered a place or placed on the waiting list
Prospective IBDP students sit CAT4, English and Maths papers and following the results of the assessment meet with the IB Team to discuss their options. They’re required to have grades A* to B in seven subjects at IGCSE level or equivalent. Students who do not satisfy this criterion will be considered on a case-by-case basis. We do not normally accept new students into Year 13.
A Levels
• Cat4, English and Maths paper-based assessment, before meeting the A Level team to discuss
