Join our Virtual Open Day
The NAISR library serves the entire NAISR community. Families are invited to come and read with their children and all members are welcome to use the library computers. The library hours are 8:00-15:30 from Monday-Friday. Parents are welcome to have their own library card. The best times to visit are first thing in the morning or towards the end of the school day. Library bags are provided for each student when the enter NAISR.
Children in the Early Years and Year 1 visit the library once a week for 45 minutes, primarily for story time, though they also learn the basics of what a library is.
Years 2 through 6 come once a week for 45 minutes. Their library sessions include a mix of reading and standards-based library instruction utilizing Standards for the 21st century learner from the American Associated of School Libraries (AASL).
The purpose of the library programme for the Primary School students is twofold: to encourage the development of a lifelong appreciation for books and reading, and to develop the skills necessary to find, evaluate and use information wisely.
Primary pupils usually exchange books during their library period, but they may also do so at any other time.
Secondary students come to the library on an as-needed basis. They may check out books at any time.
