Calling all writers!
Award winning author, Margriet Ruurs, will be visiting NAISR to launch this year's Creative Writing competition, which is based on the the theme of 'Home' in relation to the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). NAISR students are encouraged to enter this wonderful competition and unique opportunity.
Students of all ages are once again invited to enter the Nord Anglia Global Creative Writing Competition. Last year, judges shortlisted two NAISR students to have their written pieces published in the 2019 Creative Writing Anthology, which you can view on the Global Campus (student's can log in with their school email - See pages 21 and 74). So we hope to have our students featured again in the next Anthology for 2020!
The competition is now open and, to officially launch the competition at our school, award winning Dutch author Margriet Ruurs will be visiting NAISR on the 21st and 22nd of November.
This years competition is based on engaging in the importance of the environment in relation to the achievement of all Global Goals and the assurance of children's rights in relation the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
This will be a collaborative effort at school level, working to pair language and arts, using Margriet Ruurs book Stepping Stones for inspiration.
Students may log on to the Global Campus with their school email account details or can speak to their teachers to find out more.
In addition, students are encouraged to review the Creative Writing Competition Student Guide below and the Introduction to the competion video by Margriet Ruurs here.
Students may write their entries (max 500 words) in a Google doc, then the document name should include the Student's name and age, for eg. John Smith, 8. Students may then submit their entries by sharing the document with NAISR's Global Campus Leader, Ms Denisse Gonzalez, at denisse.gonzalez@aisr.nl. The school will then submit student entries to the NAE Global Campus, where they will be reviewed by a panel of judges, including UNICEF and Margriet.

Margriet is very excited about the timing of her visit to the Netherlands, since she can maybe see Sinterklaas and eat marsepein!
In Canada, Margriet's book Birthdays Around The World is currently offered as part of a McDonald’s Happy Meal! :-)
