Class Representatives - Elementary STUCO

Class Representatives - Elementary STUCO - class-representatives--elementary-stuco
Class Representatives - Elementary STUCO Would you like to be a class representative and take part of this year's Elementary STUCO (Student Council)?

Would you like to be a class representative and take part of this year's Elementary STUCO (Student Council)?

Are you ready to……

  • Attend a weekly Student Council (STUCO) Meeting on Wednesday at lunchtime, you must bring home lunch that day.
  • Report back to your class and take notes of the whole class response and ideas.
  • Summarise and present class ideas and issues to STUCO at meetings.
  • Possibly be involved in making school announcements in assemblies or other classes, keeping the students informed about events.
  • Help organise and run fundraisers and events towards specific student and community needs.
  • You may need to stay after school to run an event.

During the second week of school, elementary students will be asked if they are interested in being part of the student council, and permission letters will be distributed to interested students to take home. The letters must be signed by parents and then returned to teachers before students do their presentation to the class.

The following week students will each complete their campaign in-class - through a presentation, where the best Class Reps will be voted in. Following the presentations, each student will vote for two students that they feel would be the best Reps for their class.

Grade 5 Ambassadors will also be voted in soon!

NOTE FOR STUDENTS – You will be required to be the ‘Class Rep’ for the duration of one trimester. Class Reps will change in the 2nd and 3rd trimester.

You will be a role model for all other NAISR students. Your job is to show the rest of the school your best behaviour and attitude towards all areas of school life.

If you would like to enter the elections for ‘Class Rep’, prepare a speech and create a poster, which tells the students of your class (your elector) why you would be the best person for the job. You will need to talk to your class about yourself and convince them to vote for you.

Parents will need to sign the permission letter. This means that they have given permission for you to run in the election, and that they agree to you attending weekly meetings on a Wednesday during lunchtime for the duration of the trimester/school year.  This also shows their support for any commitments your new role will involve.

Yours faithfully,

Ana Nunes

Elementary Student Council Leader
