How our English as an Additional Language (EAL) programme works
Nord Anglia International School Rotterdam is a truly international school, which means students arrive here from The Netherlands and across the world. We run tailored EAL courses for children who need extra help with the English language.
How it works
EAL support is provided at no extra cost. Our expert team create carefully planned strategies that ensure every child learns in a way that works for them. Our EAL programme supports our students’ linguistic, cultural, social, and emotional transition, while providing the appropriate scaffolding to help them succeed in and beyond the classroom.
Our EAL teachers typically work alongside the student’s teacher(s) in the classroom. While there may be times when a student takes part in direct, one-to-one sessions, our goal is to deliver content knowledge, language development, and academic skills within lessons.
Really importantly, our EAL students will always be made to feel proud of their culture and native language. Their ability to work in more than one language is treated as a huge asset that enhances their learning.
