Laurence is from Bradford, West Yorkshire and a graduate of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. He qualified as a teacher in the United Kingdom in 1993 and has over 30 years successful teaching experience.

He has led History Departments and Humanities Faculties and has also assumed the roles of Director of Studies, Exams Officer and Sixth Form Tutor in the past.

He has taught in the UK, Egypt, Pakistan and Thailand and to date he has spent almost two decades teaching at schools in China and enjoys living with his family in Shanghai.

Over the years he has encouraged students to think critically and to explore the ways in which many subject areas are inter-linked. He enjoys film and music ranging from Mozart to Metallica.
