Congratulations to our Year 11 Class of 2023 for their hard work and resilience during their IGCSE studies over the past two years! NAIS Pudong students achieving top marks of A* or A (or equivalent) were at 59%, with 81% of our Science awards and a remarkable 100% of our Additional Maths students being awarded grades of A* or A!
Based on 2022 data (which saw 26% of UK-based students achieve those grades), it means that we continue to achieve more than twice as many top grades as students in UK schools.
Embarking on a transformative academic journey, two remarkable students have emerged as the shining stars of our recent IGCSE May 2023 Examination session. With unparallel determination and a thirst for knowledge, Yoenjin and Tia have illuminated the path of success, showcasing a remarkable evolution over the past two years.
In the genesis of their expedition, Yoenjin and Tia displayed a modest demeanor, grappling with uncertainty and self-doubt as they navigated the intricate landscapes of core subjects. Yet, like the dawn breaking through the darkness, their potential began to flourish. With immense dedication and a passion for growth, they have not only overcome their reservations but also blossomed into confident, creative learners. Their achievements stand as a testament to their diligence and innovation, as they achieved an extraordinary range of 95% to 100% A*/A across all disciplines.
As Yoenjin and Tia now transition to the illustrious International Baccalaureate (IB) program, their spirited commitment to learning propels them onto this new chapter with greater momentum. The echoes of their success will undoubtedly reverberate through the challenges and triumphs of the IB Diploma, as they ascend to even greater heights.
We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yoenjin and Tia for their remarkable achievements.
Parents and guardians were then treated to an engaging series of face-to-face sessions led by the school's teaching staff. These interactive sessions not only provided insights into the curriculum and educational methods but also allowed for an open exchange of ideas. "It's wonderful to see how invested the teachers are in our children's education," said one parent, beaming with enthusiasm. "Their passion is truly contagious."
A cornerstone of the day's events was the opportunity for students to familiarise themselves with their new homeroom teachers. The school believes that building a strong rapport between students and teachers is integral to a successful academic journey. "The connection between a student and their homeroom teacher can make a world of difference," shared Mr. Lang, a veteran educator at the school for 18 years. "Understanding each student's unique strengths and needs helps us tailor our approach for maximum growth."
As the morning developed, our families had the chance to meet with staff from all of our key administrative departments, while also engaging with our Parent & Community Association members over coffee and pastries. Families departed with a deeper understanding of the school's vision and a renewed sense of community. Induction Day has not only showcased the recent physical transformation of the campus but also reaffirmed the school's commitment to fostering holistic development in each student.
With the stage set for the academic year ahead, NAIS Pudong stands poised to embark on a journey of innovation, growth, and mutual collaboration, with students, parents, and educators working hand in hand.
"Studying 1GCSEs during the Covid pandemic was complicated. Although there were many strugglesin between, the teachers at NAlS Pudong provided support based on my own specific needs andgave suggestions on how to effectively prepare for my exams with personalised feedback. As muchas it was stressful and difficult, I am delighted with my lGCSE grades which now set the standard formy lB Diploma course over the coming two years. The entire examinations process has taught mesome invaluable skills and helped me to become an inquisitive and reflective person."
"IGCSEs were a difficult challenge and gave me responsibility at a level I've never had tomanage before. However, it has been a great foundation for my future academic years, allowing meto approach challenges with a positive and determined mindset; hard work truly pays off! Overall itwas a great experience, teaching me about discipline, resilience and organisation. My teachersguided me by providing all the required resources and supporting my studies whenever extra help was needed. They were extremely encouraging and gave constructive criticism whenever itwas needed, pushing me to the best of my abilities. Although I've just started my lB Diploma, theresponsibility of study at this level has felt manageable so far, mostly because the lGCSE coursetaught me how to organise myself. As a result, starting the new academic year has felt new andexciting."
