Primary Campus Weekly Update

Primary Campus Weekly Update - Primary Campus Weekly Update

Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the new term! I do hope that our school community has had a restful and rejuvenating break as we prepare for the term ahead. While last week and this week may both be shorter, the school is a reassuring hive of activity which continues to focus on creating a buzz around learning.

Our Earth Day was a huge event across the school, brilliantly organised by both Ms. Mann and Ms. Rimmel. Alongside our Pupil Council, our school assembly was an interactive session which highlighted the importance of ‘teaspoons of change’ and the impact these can have on the Earth. With links to both Sustainable Development Goals and Global Campus we saw many examples of children engaging with important global concerns, such as Year 2, creating their own "medicine" to celebrate Earth Day, aiming to heal the planet.

At the end of last week, the Chengdu Multisport event was a great opportunity for our children to compete against our Nord Anglia Schools in China. Ms. Newman and Ms. NiSi were excited to lead our school team to a number of medals in Athletics and Football. Needless to say, it was an unforgettable trip with memories that will endure way beyond the school gates.

Mid-week, we launched our World Book Week with Mr. Bump-mont, aka Mr. Beaumont, sharing what was ahead in our jam-packed focus on reading. It has been great to see so many children taking part in our Epic Reading in Epic Places. My personal favourites have been Kristian 6G, Emma 2E, Lottie 3B and Evelyn 1C! There was also the Battle of Books competition led by Ms. Bates in the Library as we prepare to battle against other schools on 8th May.

Finally, as part of our continuous professional development (CPD) for teachers, there was an excellent CPD session organised and curated by Ms. Thomson and our Primary Leadership Team. The focus was on the impact of research informed practice on learning outcomes for children. We recognise that CPD is most effective when there is a clear purpose, high level agency and link to pupil outcomes – more on this in the coming weeks!

I started this bulletin by emphasising the importance of rest and rejuvenation—not just as an end in itself, but as the foundation that enables us to bring our best for the term ahead. We thrive when active: purposeful, hardworking, and collaborative, creating something greater together than we ever could alone.
